Ori Karev is the CEO of UnitedHealth International, a UnitedHealth Group
company. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading UnitedHealth International's
growth and advancing its position as the leading global health and Well-being
Company. Under his leadership, Ori ensures that the company actively pursues
its local and global potential in its various market segments: global health
insurance, third-party administration, health care management consulting
and global health solutions for leading benefit plan sponsors.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Karev held global leadership positions
with UnitedHealth Group over the last three years. He joined UnitedHealth
International in 2006, after two years of advising its management in connection
with mergers and acquisitions. Ori initially lead Cross Border sales activities
and, in September 2006, was appointed CEO of Cross Border Solutions, which
provides U.S. benefits and care coordination to non U.S. payers. In March
2007, Ori was appointed CEO of UnitedHealth International.
Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Ori was president
and founder of a global health care M&A consulting firm; and president of MedSave
USA, a US cost Containment Company. He also held leadership positions with
an HMO, and foreign insurer, an Internet ASP, educational colleges, and
practiced global M&A law in the U.S. with Ernst & Young and a boutique
global M&A law firm in New York.
Mr. Karev holds a BA in Political Science and Labor Studies from Tel Aviv University, an MBA in Finance and International Marketing from the University of Hartford, and a Juris Doctor degree in Law from Cardozo School of Law where he was a member of the Arts & Entertainment Law Review. He is a member of the legal bar in the states of New York and Connecticut. Mr. Karev routinely lectures in global healthcare conferences about Global and US healthcare issues; and, has authored a few articles on the subject.
